Hi this may sound stupid, but has anyone here heard of William Steward & Co.Did my apprenticeship with them back in the 80's but can't find any records of them now.Maybe they merged with another company:)

Hi
William Steward & Co (stewards) were a big company when I was doing my apprenticeship in the 90's wining many a big contract. I think they disappeared the end of the 90's might be mistaken. I sub contracted to them for a year in 1995 ish.

i worked for william steward through my apprentiship, they were taken over by ABB then we were all made redundent ,jobs i worked on were walsall manor hospital, leceister paper mill, toyota in derby,bt maintenance in lincolnshire, they were good times when work was plentifull and lots of overtime

Well blow me down , i am actually working on/ripping out the kit you may have installed at walsall manor hospital. We just finished the new build side and are now moving the old switchroom 2 into new schneider panels in the old west wing part. Keep on seeing W Steward labels on all the old panels . What bits did you work on ?

as i remember it i worked in the 2 plant rooms on the maternity block roof doing the heating panels and air con units, when i first arrived there i was running 3 compartment trunking and tray around each floor,i was trying to remember when it was,it must be about 20 years ago maybe more

i think your right there the mains panels we are working on are dated 1985-1986 so fits in about right. yeah maternity is a right ****e-hole now, we did some refurbishments there and we had to use flexishield and some new lighting trunking instead of re-using the existing three compartment which is left there doing nothing now LoL

I did my apprenticeship with Stewards from 1973 to 78 then worked as a spark with them untill 1981. Good company I thought. Is there anyone out there who worked on Kingston Hospital (early 70's), Westminster Tech (mid 70's), Medhursts in Bromley (late 70's) Trevor Square (late 70's), Wellington Barracks (early 80's) or the Sudbury office shared with Johnson & Pearce.

I must know you, Andy? i was one of the supervisors on the BT jobs sadly the other one has passed on.i remember the jobs in Boston and Peterbourough well. they were the good days.also the paper mill. Bob has retired now.good to see you still out there.
