I'm looking for suggestions / experience to help me with this one...

A domestic client asked me today if it is possible to have a winch or lift system to be able to lower the light fitting above his stairs for cleaning and lamp changing. The ceiling in this location is pretty high and above a turn in the staircase so that ladder access is difficult.

Above the ceiling is open loft space so there is plenty of room above.

I thought of motorised chandelier lifts, but these are heavy duty to carry the weight of large chandeliers, and seem to cost upwards of £600. I don't need to be able to carry such a weight as it's not a heavy fitting, and so was hoping there was something less expensive that would work here.

The client is happy to have either motorised or hand wound (although that would raise issues of location of / access to the winding handle).

Any thoughts...?

Have a look at these chaps - probably worth calling them to chat. If they don't have something in stock then they'll point you in the right direction. Suggest a 100kG 1:100 hand winch sounds more than sufficient and a lot less than £600!!!
