Hi

I'm not familiar with central heating controls at all, but yesterday I was helping another customer in my local wholesalers and none of their digital thermostats in the catalogue where hard wired controls, they where all wireless and the only wired controls where the ones with the temperature wheel.
My question is, is it possible to have a non-wireless digital thermostat?

why go to the trouble and expense of chasing out, plastering and decorating when you can just fit wireless with a couple of screws or no nails?

A wireless stat only sends a signal back to a reciever usually near the boiler. The receiver is then hard wired into the boiler like a conventional stat.

generally. at the end of the day, it's just a switch. stat signals to receiver. receiver opens or closes relay contacts, thus the boiler sees s/c for on, o/c for off across it's stat. contacts. they don't work on log burners though, tend to melt down/ LOL.
