Hi i went to a job today to replace an existing PIR. the existing one only had a L,N and E terminal. The new one has L,N,E and PL terminal. the cable going to the separate PIR is a 1.5 twin and earth. Am i right in thinking it needs a 3 core and Earth? or can it still be done with a Twin and earth?? Thanks for any info

wish i took one now. basically the floodlight is at the top of the house with a T+E going to it. then from the light is another T+E going to the PIR. The light use to work before the PIR stopped working..

To be perfectly honest i didnt check as the terminal block just had 3 connections in... they could have though. I thought i would need a 3 core though. lighting baffles me. thanks anyway

Can anybody please explain to me, can You have two PIR exterior lights operating from the same master switch?
Each lantern light has its own integrated PIR, each light is positioned either side of a wide garage, which can be approached either from the front or the side. Two PIRs. Each unit has a four terminal conector * L N and the earth. How its wired...... Live feed 1.5 T+E too lamp one via master switch. connected to L N and earth..... 1.5 T+E from * N and earth to lamp two (slave) connected to
* N and earth When flicking the switch 2/3 times, both lights come on for a minute or two, flash three times and go into PIR mode. But they don't seem to be operating at night. Its for a friend of mine. He rang me last night to say there not coming on. Have I wired them correctly?
If there was only one light operated by the switch you would wire the SL to * from the L.

Good man, thank you your a star. I even rang the technical help at the manufacturers of the lights. they told me it was all wired correctly. But I don't think they understood what I was explaining about two PIRs. But thank you, it obvious really, The * terminal is only live when light one is activated.
