Hey I'm looking to install an outlet into a cord in my wall that was exposed by a hole that had been capped. When I cut into it I found out it had 3 main wires (black, white, red, ground) and I assume it's because it leads to a 220V outlet on the opposite side of the wall. My question is can I wire up a regular outlet normally while basically bypassing the red wire? I made a diagram to explain my plan. I assume this would work, just making sure this is safe. Thanks for your time!
