Anyone know where I can get some basic training on wiring up central heating controls? No problem with the electrical side but need some understanding of what goes where and what does what on the heating systems to be able to have a fighting chance of getting them wired up correctly.Any info greatly appriciated.

Hiya mate, just done one this morning, and just used the book that came with the programmer and some common sense Bpec do a book called Central heating systems-controls and wiring layouts that may be useful

I have a fantastic diagram i use. Have used it several times as I only do the odd central heating system and it hasnt failed me yet. Give me a couple of hours to work my scanner and i will post it up. or probably best if you PM me your email address and i will forward it on.

look at the sticky threads and you'll find one with central heating diagrams, but if the are new installs then drawings will come with the boier, heating controllers, and 2/3 port valves. Some tweeking might be needed, especially if using programmeable roomstat as most show standard roomstat and 2 channel timer. I do 2 or 3 a week and some of the retro work can be difficult to work out so normally find it easier to just rip it out and start again!
