I have recently started fitting new loft insulation and found a cable running between two bedroom lights ceiling roses is damaged and needs replacing, is Prysmian 1.0mm twin and earth ok there are no markings on the original but it does look to be 1.0mm, this is a straightforward job I have done in the past but not sure if it is now illegal to do.[h=1][/h]

Illegal to do what exactly?

Replacing a damaged cable with the same type of cable is a maintenance activity so so long as you are competent to do this change then you should be OK.
I would suggest comparing the size of the core (the central copper) with the 1.0mm² twin and earth and seeing if they are the same size, if the 1.0mm² is the same or bigger then there should be no problem so long as it was correct in the first instance.
If the 1.0mm² core is smaller than the original then I would suggest using 1.5mm².

Thanks Richard, also do you know which pendant sets are used by electricians, Ashley Heger are fitted but need changing, I was planning on using MK or maybe just Ashley Heger again as they will go in the exact same please.

An electrician may use a variety of makes dependent on what is available locally.
Most modern pendants have the same footprint and similar wiring arrangements but different methods of holding the flex and different covers.

You say that you are fitting new loft insulation. Please note that how the cable is routed along the insulation will affect the de-rating of the cable.

It was just laid on top of the insulation, I plan to clip it to the side of the ceiling joists, the insulation will still touch the cable is that OK.
