I have a new oven and hob ( 3.4kw and 6kw) to replace old cooker.
The current wiring is 45amp mcb at CU and 6mm cable to double pole switch at cooker wall.
The oven and hob add up to 9.4kw. Can i just use a dual appliance plate and wire them both into the current wiring with switch and 45amp mcb??
Or do I have to have a fused protection for each ie 16amp fuse and 30amp fuse??
Running a seperate wire back to the cunsumer unit will ba a major task as new floor etc

You can use the one control providing both units are rated between 15 and 50 amps both would also have to be within 2 mtrs of switch.

Hope that helps

Chris

The breaker is to protect the cable.

45 A is too large for 6mm cable. (So the regs say, but not a really big problem)

Your appliances together are

9.4/230=40.87 amps
40.87-10=30.87amps
therefore
30.87*30%=9.26amps
9.26+10=19.26amps

So to be correct pop a 32 amp breaker in which will be more than enough.

A dual appliance plate will be fine.

You should also consider the length of the run and install method as that could derate your cable. It might also be worth having a word with the client as to whether or not they expect it to have regular heavy use, if not the diversity calc above is fine.

allowing for diversity a 32 amp supply will be fine for them both, but remember, the cable needs to be adequate to cope with a load on up to that...
