Hi all,

I have recently completed my 17th edition wiring regs and PAT testing and have been working with electrics for the past year or so.

My next aim is to pass the installation exam, with this exam pass, isit also possible for me to sign off completed work?

If possible, please can anyone advise whether the installation exam allows me to sign off my own work and which course is best for home study etc

Regards
Mike

To sign of the majority of your work you'll need to register with a Part P scheme provider (NICEIC, Elecsa, Napit). They will tell you what you need in terms of qualifications. Please search the forum, this topic has been done to death!

If you do any electrical work, then you have no alternative but to sign it off as compliant etc. This is not a requirement for people with or without qualifications, this is a requirement in law. If you design, construct, test and Inspect, an electrical installation, Minor works or whatever, you must complete all the appropriate paperwork. The model forms are in the back of the BGB.

Cheers.................Howard

Complete an apprenticeship, along with the above qualifications. Then I would say you are in a position to sign off your work.
