Wiring through Bathroom?

W

welshbabe

Hi - new here but a quick question.

Just had oil heating put in (boiler outside) - but when wiring it all up, rather than go through the attics, which was a bit complicated, the electrician ran the wire from outside through the bathroom to the airing cupboard - didn't mind that - but he's run it under the bath, so I an a bit concerned with water leaking from bath etc (which it is around the plughole anyway - being n old bath) - am I being paranoid?

no your not been paranoid just cautious!

providing nothing to snag cable and its a continious run (i.e no joints under bath) your fine! cable is water proof

Thanks Steve -sorry I am a bit of a worry guts - especially when I don't understand things enough.

One other quesion then - he was on that the frost cut-in on the boiler outside might be staying on too long and I should keep an eye on it! Seems it should cut in at 5 degrees but he thought it was coming on too soon but wasn't sure (its a brand new boiler) - he said no problem as it would just be burning more oil than necessary! Is there any wya for me to find out if its ok or not? Apart from camping out all night to see when it clicks on!

thermostats are not that accurate. If the unit asks for a neutral, and one is not installed, then the unit will be less accurate withregards to the temperature it operates at. You could try using a thermometer, and then twisting the thermostat til it clicks, and make a not of the tempit reads when it clicks. use this to guess whetehr it should be set higher/lowerto compensate for inaccuracy

Thanks for the reply Johnboy but not sure I get it.

I have the thermostat in the house for the radiators etc - but what the electrician was on about was the bolier outside coming on automatically to frost-proof itself - not something I can control or regulate.

Frost stats normally trigger at 2 - 4 degrees, providing its cutting in above 2 degrees I would'nt worry,
