What does the NC terminal on the HW side do on a time clock? The wire from the NC terminal is connected to the grey of the 3 port valve. A 3core flex goes to the cylinder stat. The brown is connected to the NO hot water terminal on the timeclock. The blue wire from the cylinder stat is connected to the orange of the valve. The yellow/green wire from the cylinder stat is connected to the NC terminal of the Timeclock and also the grey of the valve. I can't remember what each wire on the valve does.

depends on make of valve! some valves the orange is permanent some the brown and some rhe grey! if it's honeywell google 'honeywell motorised valve wiring' and you'll find it straight away! hope this helps

I can strongly recommend the manufacturers instructions, or the wiring diagrams linked to in the sticky in this forum section.

Be aware that there are valves out there which follow different colour schemes to what we are used to, particularly older valves.

NC is HW OFF on Prog, this connects to Grey on 3PV along with HW satisfied from cylinder stat. What make is 3PV?

As I mentioned earlier there are wiring diagrams available for download from this forum, I believe there is a sticky with a link at the top if this forum section.

3 core wouldn't, but 3 core and earth should I think. The live from the UH4 could feed both the brown and grey of the valve.
