Hi there,
I have a question for those who know! This is my first post but I do plan on sharing my knowledge where I can as this looks like a great forum.

I am wiring up a 250w ballast to run a 250w high pressure sodium bulb.

I have a 400w ballast at the moment and am planning on salvaging some parts from it.

I have bought a 'philips BSN 250w L34' and was hoping to be able to use the ignitor and capacitor from the 400w ballast with it. The ignitor 'mzn400 s' should work as it says 250/400 w on it but the capacitor i'm unsure of. Would I be ok running a capacitor designed for a 400w ballast or do I need one that will work with the new philips one?
I cant find a serial no. for the salvaged capacitor but here's a pic:

Should I be ok using this or will i need a new 1 and if so which 1?!

Also what type of cable should I be using to wire this all up?

Any help appreciated, been scratching my head for a while now..

cheers :)

I guess the easiest way would be to run a supply from ignition /aux via a relay that drops the supply when the lights are on.
