Hello forum, first post on here so hope you are all good. :)

Iv recently fitted an ideal logic. The customer has an electronic donfoss TS71S SI single chanel time switch on the wall which was used on their old combi.

There are 4 wires that come from the time switch, but im unsure how to wire them up to the logic. There is also a link wire inside where the time switch is wired up. Im not too great with electrics and would be very grateful for some help.

The time switch has

N L 1 2 3 4

230 com off n/c n/o

on the ideal logic there is a link wire on the left where I have wired in a room stat. then I have put live neutral and earth to the power. Now I just need to connect up the clock. Please could some one explaine in simple terms how to connect up the time switch to the pcb. on the right of the pcb it says weather compensator and open therm room stat.

Im sorry for my electrics been so basic. we used to have an electrician who did that side of everything. I really would appreciate it if some one could explaine where I connect it up and how it works so i know for the future. thank you,

james

Ok so the Ideal Logic is a combi boiler which needs a permanent live & neutral supply in order for it to heat the water on demand when a tap is opened for instance.

It will also work to heat the radiators with just the permanent live & neutral supply, the temperature being controlled by the stat on the boiler front. In this instance you leave the link you mention in place.

There is also the faciltiy to connect external heating controls to the boiler such as a roomstat & timeclock etc. In this instance the boiler will need an additional switched live supply from the roomstat/timeclock etc which is connected in place of the link inside the boiler.

With the controls you mention you have, the switched live for the heating would first come from the timeclock (usually terminal 4), via the roomstat and then arrive at the boiler and connect to the switched input terminal where the link cable would have been.

So as you have it, the roomstat controls the switched live input to the boiler for the heating, what you need to do is connect the timeclock in before the roomstat, i.e the permanent live supply to the roomstat needs to come from terminal 4 of the timeclock.

Hope that makes some kind of sense.
