I came aross one of these for the first time today, and I was hoping someone with more experience could give me some tips to prove whether or not it's faulty as I cant find any information or trouble shooting guide for them (and there isnt any technical contact number on their website)

After changing some faulty ground lights the system would not switch one any of the lights or the water feature. Power is getting to the control box, and I can hear a high pitched tone (fault indication?) coming from it when switching on.

The enclosure box for the receiver is physically damaged slightly, allowing moisture to penetrate, and there were some bugs inside. Though I cant see any evidence of damaged components.

I isolated each connected circuit and proved continuity for each so it seem so point to a board fault but need to confirm that before recomending its replacement.

Any help appreciated, thanks

The high pitched tone is normal when switching on. Try the obvious things like check batteries on fob and wall plate, just to eliminate the possibility. if you sit next to the wise box and try and switch it, you should hear a relay click. if it you cant hear the relay click, you might have to reprogramme the switch/ fob. I cant remember if there is an internal fuse protecting the circuitry, but thats another thing you should look out for.

I have installed about six of these, but I have never had a problem with them, so I have never had to fault find on one. im just listing the things that I would check, hope it helps.

Thanks for your reply SS - I did ask the owner to check batteries in the switch but they didnt mention a fob. I did look for fuses but this one doesnt have any (but from the images I've seen researching this it looks like the newer version has a fuse per circuit). I haven't tried to reprogramme the box (I assumed it would retain settings in memory because I wouldnt expect to be called to reprogramme it whenever there's a power cut or a battery dies) but it looked simple enough, so I'll try that next.

But should all circuits come on when power is first restored or only when operated with the switch?
Also, if one circuit is faulty, I assumed the box is intelligent enough to allow the other curcuits to continue to operate - do you know if that's the case?

Also, I expected this to be connected to a dedicated RCB/RCBO - is that how you do it? - because its currently fed from a 10A double FCU in the kitchen (cant recall if that circuit is RCD protected but I'll have to check).

I would add though that a typical good TT rod of 100 ohms only needs 3V to have 30mA flowing and so trip an RCD, you might find that sort of N-E...
