Witnessing testing

Hi there ,

just a quick enquiry , on a commercial site and been testing , just been told that someone wants to witness test a few things etc...... Just wondered what this involves and what they want to see and what I have to demonstrate ?

Well ask them then!

Usually it involves things like fire alarm, emergency lighting, and any other ancillaries that may be required by the property owner may specify. Nothing to worry about as long as you know everything is working correctly.

It's not a test of you, it's as above, witnessing of items specified by the Property owner or their Agent after improvement works or requested by the Insurance company for the building or some other party.

e.g Fire alarm that may be a legal requirement.
Em lighting coverage by the local Fire Officer

You need to know exactly what needs witnessing so you can
a, test it beforehand
b, have the neccessary equipment/ access / permission (if it's already in use e.g fire alarm.)

i only been informed of it by email today ,

Didn't know if they want to look at sub circuits ie power and lighting and whether they wanted to witness me test it again or looks at the results obtained ? Never come across this before .

I used it to send a message to some guys I had working under me a few years back. I suspected them of drive by testing so I arranged to be there while testing was going on, I also made them go back to some places with me to carry out check tests. Turns out I was right, they were making the results up but word soon got round.
NB I'm not for a single second suggesting you're doing something so stupid, just speaking from my own experience.

happens alot on big sites client will witness test ie hell ask you to test a circut you have done and hell watch make sure your doing it right and your reading has to be within 10% of the recorded reading on your test sheet

Ok great just been told its standard procedure on big sites so panic over , it's all tested correctly and nothing to worry about ! No drive by testing from me ! Can't abide testers like that !!

I wonder if this thread has anything to do with those Jeovahs witnesses,they turn up everywhere

I always puzzled over what they carry in those Briefcases,now I think I understand
It must be a fluke MFT and the testing results
