Any advice appreciated

If all ok after pre work survey am I ok to simply replace accessories on this installation without adding rcd protection if the customer won't go for it? (I get the firm impression over the phone he won't) Work involves replacing some floods on an outside wall, okey dokey, but also some work in a bathroom (fan & cabinet light replacement. All wiring already in place). I might be thinking too deeply about this and a buddy assures me "no problem" on a like for like replacement, but I have never signed off any bathroom work before that didn't have additional protection and it isn't sitting well with me. Client sounds like a pain straight away, thinks the world is out to rip him off.

Thoughts anyone?

A like like for replacement should mean your not having to change the existing protection devices I agree.

You may fall foul of this with the manufacturers clause especially with that fan. If the fan requires a 3 amp fused lives and there isn't one existing in the circuit, then there maybe so rewiring involved, and as soon you as do this, your having to supply additional protection.

Also the manufacturer may also want you to fit an RCD to the fan.

if you need to put in the 3amp protection for the fan you could use inline fuse carriers like these less rewiring required.

Or one of the lads put up on another thread ages ago a click mode plate that excepts three modules and you can put a fuse carrier next to a miniature fan isolator switch very neat and fits in a single box :drunk:
