hi all have been doing some pir,s recently an im a little rusty on a few things got lots more to do an experience is key got a query re a small domestic house with a main board being fitted with rcd as a main sw, protecting approx 4 ccts, lts/ skts/cooker/ shower... on the lts cct also has the alarm and smokie with no seperate fused connection unit
would i recommend the following,
1. no additional protection
2. incorrect main sw
3. circuits not seperated

any help with this and any help with the inspection checklist would be great

if the board was fitted prior to 17th, then the above points are IMO just a code 4. with the xception of the alarm. it should have it's own FCU or it,s own MCB. the smokes are fine if wired into a frequently used lighting circuit.

would i recommend the following,

1. no additional protection If the main switch is an RCD then ALL circuits have additional protection (assuming it's 30mA).

2. incorrect main sw Can you back up your thoughts on why you think it is incorrect though??? for me it would warrant a code 4 in this instance.

3. circuits not seperated Well they are, as you have 4 circuits and it is quite common for smoke alarms to be connected to lighting circuits.

any help with this and any help with the inspection checklist would be great

The other alarm to which you refer is that a security alarm with no means of isolation other than the lighting MCB???

What area's are you not understanding about the inspection schedule???
