wrong polarity

doing eicr at weekend in large office block on lighting circuts assisted by a keen apprentice we found that on the lighting circuts we found wrong polarity with L AND n we have a t&e cable supplying a delmatic control box and then plug and play leads daisy chained any way found problem L AND N wrong in one of plugs now my young keen apprentice asked me why this didnt take out the breaker and i was struggling to explain a good version of why it didnt can anyone explain it better than me not sure the apprentice understood me

You were probably trying to use too many words to expalin the situation,,

Mcb is monitoring load /overload.
No overload occurs whilst the L & N are reversed.

RCbo monitors loss of current to earth.
No loss occurs whilst L & N are reversed.

Apprentices are easily confused (allegedly).
I'm sure I was over 40 years ago, when told to brew tea for 20 men at a time, Tea pot holds 4 mugs???

Why not tell him to look it up on the internet and find it himself. usually thats the best way to learn.

that wouldnt be very helpful for the lad the only way to lern is from asking questions to older or other sparks ive lernt a lot just listening to other sparks certanily the older ones whove been there got the t shirt
