Hi

I had a look at my partners dads extractor fan as it wasn’t working. It was working intermittently then stopped working altogether. I replaced the unit for the same model (brand new from TLC)as the previous model was over 20 years old ooojjjjjjbut after connecting it up it the led to show power is not coming on.

I have tried a link between LH and T but nothing.

There is a double light switch and an isolator switch. Behind the switches there are 4 different cables. 3 T&E (red & black) and the other is R, Y and Blue. I was able to identify two cables as switch wires for the Down lighters and wall light.

It sounds like the fan starts however no visible sign the red led xx

A photo of the wiring diagram in the instructions, and how you’ve connected it up may help.

linking LH and T together doesn’t sound like it should work. Try swapping them.

make sure the neutral is in the right place and don’t move it!

I have swapped round LH & T but no difference. Above the false ceiling the two cables going into the fan seem to come from another room. On my meter I was getting roughly 2V on N&LH and not much more on N&T. I was getting 12V between E&N. I didn’t want to swap any wiring as this was how it was previously connected and LED was illuminated.

I know multimeters can give misleading results on unloaded circuits, but could the mention of 12 volts be a clue?
Trying to replace a 12 volt fan with a mains one?

I’ve got the same Xpelair DX200T model and you see noticed a 4 connector block, when the panels shows the 5 connections and ordered as

Earth
N
T
LH
LL

Scenario 1
So if we go backwards up the list, then that bottom connector is LL and the top of the 4 connector block would be Neutral.
Either you twist the incoming Earth to the yellow and green Earth cable or assume it hasn’t got to be connected and the Earth is already done internally.

Scenario 2
This would be as shown in the OP photo and Earth is TOP and the LH/LL are either combined or the LL no longer exists.

Wxpelair are pretty poor at documenting how the wiring should go.
