Hi, probably a Barmy question but what exactly do the five yellow stars on certain threads mean?

I can't say I'd noticed the stars before, but I'll look out for them in future.
It seems to be a moot feature if not many people use it.

My first thoughts were "I can't remember yellow stars on screw treads, anyway the nut would scrape them off"

they're for when you run out of loctite.

Nuts should always be secure no matter what colour the treads are......
