Here's one I had this afternoon. Changing a light switch for a friend of
Mine. Tested circuit, it's dead. As I'm connected up the switch line it's arcing slightly in the terminal. Get testers out. Definitely dead. Connect it again..... Still arcing? It was the switch for the loft and I wonder if there was a flu light with a charged capacitor maybe?? ( I dunno I'm guessing.) he didn't know what type of light he has up there (ignorance? Haha) and I didn't wanna start disturbing loft hatch etc.

Maybe something capacitive in one of the light fittings, more likely with fluorescents. I got nailed once by a dimmer in a circuit. I tested for dead to earth and get about 35 volts on my digital tester which I thought was just a floating voltage. I touched the wiring and got a reasonable shock. When I retested with my analogue tester it showed around 211volts being fed via the dimmer which was set on half brightness. For some reason the digital tester didn't register the waveform as a real voltage :(

That's what I was thinking Marvo. Used my thin nose pliers just in case
