hello sparks,
just thought id ask you if any of you have worked on or what your views are on 'smart homes' projects! i have worked on a few over the past few years and just finished a large project recently. personally i think they are very interesting to work on but as any of you that hace worked on them may know its usually just pulling in the necessary cabling ( cat5 , crestron, ct100 , rg59 ) and a secondary firm comes along to connect and commission. they guy who commissioned the most recent house we done gave me the tour and i have to say alot of the stuff was very impressive ( mood lighting, blinds that could be opened by timeclock, external photcell or manually, home cinema ) although i could foresee a massive computer programmer bill in the near future for the setting up of this luxury for the home owner.
i could see this as being a lucrutive market when the recession pops its clogs and quite interesting job although the wide scope of people you would need to employ would put alot of people off.
if any off you have worked on a smart home project whats the best/silliest thing you have seen? mine has to be running the bath by text msg!
how ???? thought you'd ask - a programmable motorised valve learns hows much water is released to fill the bath without over flowing and a tank stat ( OFCH system ) heats the water to up your desired tempeture, and thrown in for gud measure 12v motorised tap!
some people have way too much money, but a fool and there money are easily parted
