Hi guys,

I have an Aeon Labs Micro Dimmer for lights. The instructions tell me to install this behind the wall switch and this is probably by far the easiest place to install it, however, I have a feeling there isn't going to be enough room behind the switch.

The main power comes into the switches so there is a single cable to the ceiling rose. My question is can I install this device in the rose, as there is more room there.

The dimmer itself has the following connectors:

Load N
AC Power N

AC Power L
Load L

Then on the other side there are 2 connections to the switch.

What would be the best way to get this installed in the ceiling?

Thanks for your help in advance.

James

You would need to install a deeper back box to fit in the light switch location.
For the ceiling you would need to bypass the manual switch you have already and use the cable up to the light as a permanent ac power supply into the dimmer and then take a cable from the load output to the light fitting.
The connections to the switch would not be used, once it is connected to your smartthings hub then it will be controlled only via that.
