Just having a play with my tester at home - when I did a Zs rcd on my lighting circuit it tripped the rcd still. Is this a common issue? Happened on both lighting circuits which are on different rcds.

New build so electrics are in pretty good nick.
 
OK, chalk that down as a school boy error. Was using 2 lead method on a 3 lead test
 
The latest meggers can perform no trip loop test on 2 leads. I am not sure about metrels though.
Yeah I think that's where I'm getting confused as we use meggers at college. Just checked manual and it definitely is a 3 lead test on my metrel
 
with the older meggers, 1552/3, it's a 3 lead no trip test. if you try and do a no trip with 2 leads, the megger displays "trip" and won't give a reading.

Guess that's a feature the metrel lacks as it let's you test and just trips out
