Hello!
I’m running 3 inch HDPE underground conduit for the primary line from the transformer, and I need to be able to connect it to 3” schedule 40 PVC, and I’m curious what kind of glue or solvent or method to use? In some preliminary research, it looks like HDPE is commonly heated to create a solid joint. I’m wondering what folks might recommend?

Thank you!

I always used glue, use enough and it will work

Normal PVC solvent glue does not work on HDPE. There's very little that sticks to it which is why heat fusion is the normal choice. Is there is a compression (mechanical) connector option to attach a flange or rigid conduit spout that can then be connected to the PVC?

You get compression fittings for the HDPE pipe but you'd have to try one on the PVC side first to see if it fits or not.

You also get hubless collars which might also work. These would work better if there's a profound difference in external diameters between the two pipes being joined.

I'd suggest you should be shopping at your local agricultural mart rather than electrical wholesalers.
