Managed to get back to this abortion today, stripped all the PBR (don't think its VIR but some smart --- will be along shortly) out...

So, do you spend an hour figuring it all out or five minutes and snip snip?

Yup, five minutes...

Now I've lost a neutral ?

Insert copious quantities of expletives here.

A good night's sleep and a fresh head, tomorrow I will own this mother.

Seen the above so many times and always amazed how they got the bare brass connections up inside the metal base without it touching and going bang

I was stunned by those pictures. There are regular comments about taped up choc blocks which, while not ideal, make perfect sense as a basic means of DIY insullation. What I can't fathom is who would ever think it acceptable to place uninsulated terminal blocks anywhere, much less inside a metal enclosure?

I love this thread for it's mix of routinely shoddy and careless work, but also for less frequent instances like this that demonstrate the sort of reckless and dangerous situations resulting from a lack of basic common sense.
