Looks like a good idea to me. I'm in the middle of doing some decorating and I'm planning on putting a new socket in. If I just chisel out enough to glue the socket in then all I need to do is run a 45 deg channel to the new socket. The current one is already a spur so I'll just use 1mm cable (got a reel of black in the van) so that I don't overload it and job done. Saves on the cost of a back box and less work.

you could be on to something ...

It's funny, very rare to find no box at all but I've often found dry lining and surface boxes chased into solid walls.

come across loads of surface boxes recessed into walls around my area ,
mini trunking in chases is another common thing Im finding recently on Diy rewires

...and twist those CPCs together so that you can get them into the same piece of sleeving...

Not typical but a good or should I say bad example of things I find in people's houses. Although typically the worst is saved for rented properties don't you find?
This is what looks to be a hinge screw in the neutral block.
at least the cpc's are connected. seen loads cut off. down to the "cpc is to strip T/E, no other purpose" brigade

No.....It's to stop the electricity leaking out.
it doesn't leak tese days. that's why tesla invented a.c. as edison's d.c leaked out. with a.c. all the electrons thatr try and leak out are then pulled back by the 180 negative cycle. and it's a never ending thing 50 times a second.

How to relocate a consumer unit, quite why they felt the need to relocate it when it was replaced is anyone's guess.View attachment 63379

That’s rougher than my head this morning, and that’s saying something after the amount of vino I polished off last night.
