Lighting first fix requirements

Hi guys does anyone know what cable to use for 0-10v dimming transformers, iv got a fair few long runs to do, iv been told alarm cable but I'm thinking a 2core double insulated flex might be more appropriate

If I use cat 5 or something like that I'm not sure what to use at the trannys to loop in loop out and I'd have many spare cores? Have you done any 0-10v dimming set ups monkey?

No i haven't mate, i use cat 5 for a lot of other stuff though like cctv, you just have to dress the unused cores neatly, what does each dimmer need just live and switch live?

We have fed the switches so from there, it's switched live and neutral to the driver and then it needs another 2core for the dimming all to loop in and out to the next driver

I've not come across loads of 0-10v dimming stuff, but on a large domestic that I was working on we were using 4 core LSX, but that stuff is hella pricey! I have seen other jobs where standard 4 core flex has been used too

Keniff came across this dimming for the first time yesterday, I had to replace 2 of the dimmers and a couple of electronic ballasts, seriously expensive for what they are, they had wired the 0-10v side in a screened flex. And it worked fine but t and e would work fine

That's what I was thinking onions but the lighting designers have now specked alarm cable!

I don't like using alarm cable for installations such as these it just doesn't stand up well in the connections when you screw down on it and if they are push connections it just bends as its too fine. What make it the dimmer system?

Helvar was the one I worked on it was a tk 4 dimmer if I remember right. Well over priced.

Alarm cable would be just fine, as for the cat 5 you may find that you will get broken terminations a lot, especially with screw terminations.
