Not everyone’s cup of tea, but as you see from my profile, I like a bit of science fiction and Lego.... so I’m starting a thread. One official Lego set from my collection per day... should take about 6 months!

In no particular order.... I’ll start with a recent eBay purchase. Missing a few very small parts, but I’ll get them replaced soon enough.

Set 21306, starring John, Paul, George and Ringo..... and Jeremy!

I've just built the yellow Lego Technic Jeep set. That's really good.

youse youngsters with lego. wasn't around when i was a kid. best i had was a meccano set, second hand with bits missing. told to make anything extra needed.

Day 4, and a 4 set bonus.
Bought from a local Facebook seller for very little, looking out for the other skyline sets.

New York, London, Paris, Peckham....
I mean, San Francisco

Love the old technic sets. I had the car chassis set when I was a kid. In fact I've still got it now - I built it again last year. 4 cylinder boxer engine adjustable seats.

Day 8

Sets 42010 and 42011, from 2013. Pull back motors to make them move.
The pair are bought separately, but there are official instructions to combine the two of them into one dragster type vehicle.
An idea that has been repeated in subsequent years.

Day 9

Set 7965, bought from Legoland Windsor as a 40th birthday present to myself back in 2014. The classic Millennium Falcon styled from the original film A New Hope.

I have added C3PO and R2D2 to complete the crew.

“Let the Wookie win”

The upper sections open up to allow access to the deck inside. Playable features include the smugglers cargo hold, used to hide in, and the upper/lower guns….

If you’ve never seen the original film…..

“Spoilers”

Day 10.
Set 8860… my brother had this one as a kid, and I acquired this a couple years ago. Missing a couple of very small parts, and a rubber band for the engine fan.

Excellent. That's the one I was referring to earlier. My favourite lego set ever. Got it as a Christmas present in the 1980s and still have it. No box sadly.

A few pieces had gone missing, but I managed to get replacements from ebay.

Only recently did I realise that the 3 gears that can be chosen are only 2... low and middle for pushing it along and watching the pistons, or by moving a few parts, allows you to use only middle and high.... for when you add an electric motor. Instructions to do so are in the book.

Are you starting to wonder how big my display cabinet is, yet?

Yes I remember 'discovering' the hidden gear.

Day 12.

Set 42042, blue crane.
4 functions powered through motor which comes with the model. Complex gearbox allows all control with only 2 levers.

Looks a good set that.

Have you seen the new typewriter set that's been released? Looks good.

Day 13.

2014 pullback pairs. 42026 and 42027. The only function of these are the pullback motors, same as the 2013 pair.
Although …27 does include a string and hook so possible to imagine your own crane builds.
Again, Lego included instructions on their website to build a combination model if you had both of these.

Day 14

9493 Star Wars x-wing. Bought from eBay so didn’t come with original figures.
Wings operate with turning cogwheel on rear, so kind of technic ???

Day 15

Another oldie. Number 952 or 851 depending on which continent you’re in.
Proper PTO drive that turns the tools on the back as the tractor rolls forward.

Day 17

42108. 8 wheel steering crane.
Bought this one new a couple years ago. Will add a motor at some point, and different mechanics for the outriggers, as you need small child-like fingers to pull them out.

Day 21

Sets 393 and 394.

Before Technic, which started in 1977, there was Hobby sets.
Introduction of axles, gears and bricks with holes which were used later in Technic.
A clever idea using a gear wheel with a moulded tyre to make a complete wheel.

The Harley police bike was bought from EBay to pair with the blue Norton that I got for my birthday 42 years ago today

Nice retro sets those.
And happy birthday!!

Day 22,
Another licensed product, which means it’s more expensive for the same parts count.
42123, Maclaren Senna. Steering and moving pistons… which is just axles that lift and drop on a rotating cam.

Day 23

42046 and 42047, pullbacks from 2016
Hotrod being chased by a police car…. A little playability, but again just pull them back and watch ‘em go is the only function.
Again, the parts from both can be used in an official model.

Day 24,

And as it’s Fourth of July, I thought to bring you something distinctly American.

I thought the Dodge Charger, or the big Mack truck, but they’ll come later.

So, set 21402, Statue of Liberty.
It’s huge. It’s got 1600+ pieces and most of them are green or tan. Took ages to find bits when they’re dropped in one box.

Added minifigure for scale….

Day 25
Another early model, and another with two numbers depending where you bought it.

Set 854 or 948 Go kart.

Rack and pinion steering using turntable plates, and a single square piston engine on back.
All original parts, but I had to print my own “number 9” sticker

One of my favourite sets this one. I still have the instructions so I might see if I can find all the parts and make it again!

Day 27.
Set 42079, Forklift.

When this came out in 2018, it was a bit of a “meh” set and I wasn’t keen. A couple of years later I saw it on Facebook locally for fairly cheap. Seller didn’t know if it was complete, but everything was there in the box.
Fills a shelf.

Day 28
2017 pullback models. Sets 42058 and 42059. Called stunt car and stunt bike. Originally came with a small ramp that caused them to jump… which I don’t have as I bought them second hand ?

As with all technic models of 2017, they came with a printed piece to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Technic.

Day 29.
Set 40370, released 2020 to mark 40th anniversary of the first Lego train set. (There had been trains before, but 1980 saw tracks, electric motors, buildings etc. A full train set)
75328397-8667-466F-B310-39184140C75A.jpeg

A modern replica of the 7810 set, released in 1980.

A0CBBFF7-FCB8-4D21-9C79-26F87B1BEB25.jpeg

Day 30. (Have I been doing this for a month already?!)

The last of my OG technic models… after this they went less traditional bricks, and more buil from angled connectors and axles to make shapes

Set 855 (or 955)
Limited functions just for the crane lift, extend and string pulley. Manual turn.
This could have been better with steering.

Day 31

Set 42109, Top Gear app controlled car.
A new technology, with one motor for drive, and another for steering… Bluetooth link to a smartphone app.
This was one of a number of sets released with the same system.

Day 33,
Sets 42072 and 42073. Named Whack and Bash for no apparent reason.
Pullback, with extra feature of the engine block popping off when the front of the car hit a wall or each other.
Had to add an extra plate under the block so it properly pinged off…

Day 34.
Set 42029 Pick up.

Big and heavy. Steering, suspension, moving pistons. Motor which runs either tipping bed or the front winch via gearbox.

One of my favourites.
