Hi everyone.
I'm about to start the wiring of an extension to my house which includes a new kitchen and bedroom.
I am an electrician that mainly works in industrial settings but have done domestic work on and off over the years.
It's been a while since I've done any new build installs like my extension but the amount of insulating of walls etc in a new build stood out to me.
That got me thinking about heat dissipation from the cables within the walls.
Would I be correct in thinking that because the construction of the external walls on my build will include a 25mm service void between the 150mm insulation board and the plasterboard then the cables do not need to be derated as they are not surrounded by the insulation? And with regards to the one internal wall that will have acoustic partition roll insulation, can installing the cables in pvc drops from sockets have a similar affect and no derating required.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Gary.
