Morning everyone . Question regarding wiring of new circuits into plastic cu . I’m wiring an extension on a property soon . The consumer unit is under the stairs and it’s plastic it’s all rcbo Wylex board in good condition with a few spare ways . Probably the last of its generation before we moved into metal boards . My question is can I add 3 new circuits and surge protection to the board and still comply with regs . I cant find a definet answer in the regs book . Wondering if anyone else has had this scenario .

Thanks

If the CU is is good condition with no signs of thermal damage then I would just make a note on the Installation Certificate that you have advised the client about the change regarding Plastic Consumer units since it is located under the stairs. I would do this on Comments on Existing Installation.

I would do this just to cover yourself.

As competent persons if we see anything that may require attention we are supposed to report it to the duty holder.

How are you planning to go about the certification and notification process? Are you a member of one of the CPS scams?

Thanks . I was thinking similar to what you’ve said 👍
