Trainee Electrician with a tool addiction needs ideas. DAY 5

Aye .... one can never have enough screwdrivers .... or pliers, crimping tools, stripping tools and cutters .... One of the best tools I've ever bought is the Knipex 95 18 225 StepCut cable shears. I can't recommend these cutters highly enough! The Cattano SocketMate is a handy...

It's with regret I have to inform you, Christina (Sparkychick) has passed

I only recently learned of Christina's illness via another forum member as I very rarely visit the forum these days. I am saddened to hear of her passing. Christina was a talented electrician and eloquent writer who was held in the highest regard by her fellow electricians. The in-depth...

What does 'mixed lines' mean with regards an EICR?

Indeed they do. I was recently contacted by a prospective customer who was in the process of selling their house and wanted a quotation for remedial work as mentioned in the Home Report: the electrical system is on mixed lines and this should be checked and upgraded by a registered electrical...

Being self employed and the coronavirus

Back in 2008, the government of the day was very quick off the mark to offer financial bailouts totalling £500 billion to the banks. By contrast, help for the self-employed isn't happening with the same determination and haste. Just saying.

    Covid-19 How are we doing?

No problems here, thankfully.:) I'm presently carrying-out an EICR in a rather large factory, and am fortunate to be able to carry-on regardless as we (my apprentice and I) are working between 4:30 and 11:30 pm during which time the factory is deserted.

    How’s your memory

I've used these Lewden roses in the past, and will surely use them again in the future. As Tel said in his post, the design is brilliant. Great for suspending small chandeliers of up to 5kg in weight. They come in chrome and a brass finish too.

    Swa earth nuts

Earthing nuts are a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned. I've been using them for several years and will never go back to using banjos.
