The ones with the loose choc block were far better that the earlier ones with terminals fixed into the base, at least you could work on them without breaking your neck then push the block back up into the base.
In another 20 or 30 years it's quite possible people will say anyone remember those dreadfull spring loaded ones, possibly called Wagos, everyone raved about them, used them everywhere, then they started failing and millions of then had to be replaced.

Can anyone remember those dreadful ceiling roses in the 1970’s,think they were Volex, they had loose connectors, which then had to be pushed into a slot on the base,awful.
Trying to get pics but not found any yet,they also had batten holders like it.
I had forgotten all about these ceiling roses, but remember them well now that you've mentioned them.

Yep. Fitted one recently on a small posh chandelier. You can still buy this fittingsanyone remember these? brilliant design if you wanted to drop the fitting for cleaning, whatever.
