Evening all,

Does anyone around has a list of common electrician terms when it comes to installation. I am an adult learner and I was always stock when my mentor talk to me in short or abbreviation term, e.g IMO, DB. etc. It would be a big help if anyone can share some for me.

thank you all,

have a nice evening,

Lplate

This might come as a silly question, why don’t you ask if it’s a term you’re unsure of? If you don’t ask it will be assumed you know and it will keep cropping up.

Things like FUBAR cropped up all the time in our shift reports.

GFCI if you ever work in America GFCI Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter or RCD in proper English, Receptacle = Socket
Hot = Live
Ground = Earth
Knob and Tube = I aint got a clue but it looks dangerous
I could go on but you would only get bored

If you are a trainee please let us know, we can assist you with a real answer not a sarcastic one and there is a trainee area for you where mentors are willing to help.'''
