Hi,

I know it is very common but would like peoples opinions on this please.

The property needs a new CU, its in the bathroom and the cupboard where it sits in needs removing first, to replace it is not a problem, but its in a bathroom, which ok it happens, but would you do it, sign it off and rely on their word that an enclosure will be put back around it?

Also whilst I remember, he asked if I could move the socket above the oven which is fine, no problem, but I was thinking, if you had to code the top switch for the cooker, would you give it a C3 because its higher up, I know the bottom one you could argue if its a C2 or C3, personally I would say C2 as its potentially dangerous due to where it is and someone could be hurt, but C3 improvement recommended.

i'd relocate the CU. other side of the wall it's on maybe.even enclosed in bathroom, steam/damp/condensation is a problem. the cooker isolator is a C3. IMO as it's high enough above the hob to be unlikely damaged by heat.

I agree the steam would be an issue, there's not even am extractor if I remember so it's going to get steamy in there.

Quote to swap the board on the proviso that you install extraction at the same time. I would go for a fan well above the minimum extraction rate for a shower room though to minimise any vapour. You can even install an IP65 CU if you would be happier with that in the environment.
I maybe wouldn't, but I would certainly insist on extraction being installed.

The cooker switch is no issue at all IMO, far too high up to be of concern, the DB looks 3 mtrs away from the shower cubicle, although not ideal if it is recovered I couldn't see a problem with that, however I agree with Tel in post 2, I would try to move it myself if possible.

No problem with replacing an existing board in a bathroom, but not for installing in new; provided that there is cupboard of sorts around it as an enclosure, to prevent steam entry and condensation.

Regards

I don't think anyone on here is going to say it needs replacing, some may even argue that it's not even a c3.
