I'm trying to find the UK name for a domestic installation cable. It has solid copper conductors for line and neutral which are insulated black and red (black red blue yellow if it's 4-core). It has a thinner CPC which is uninsulated and the outer hard PVC sheath has a layer of aluminium foil in it. The foil isn't used in terminating.

Wow that was quick, thanks for the suggestions. It isn't fire rated, it's just a general 230/400v installation cable and it generally comes with a standard PVC white or black outer sheath (never seen it in red or orange). You can't separate the outer PVC sheath from the foil wrap, it all strips off together when you terminate. Our local name is 'surfix' but I'm not sure if that's a trade name. I'll go thorough the links now and see which one looks closest.

It looks like the afumex or Multiplus type offerings, although it'll be brown and blue these days.

Has it got a cloth layer between the screen and the cores ?
I've never seen it in brown + blue, always black and red and there's no cloth layer. Just the outer PVC sheath which is quite hard and it's integral foil wrap which, even though it's shown in the photo above as a layer on its own, I've never seen it come separate from the sheath. It just uses the standard cheap PVC glands with a compression ring in them. It's commonly used in smaller sizes like 1.5 and 2.5mm for general installation of final circuits but I've seen it as large as 10mm and it might even go a bit larger than that.

6242B or Fire rated LSF twin and CPC marv.
Thanks MJD. It's a round cable, not flat and it has no fire rating or special properties. It's not 'armoured' as such and wouldn't be considered to be penetration proof.
