KW=KVA x PF

P(kW) = S(kVA) × PF
The real power P in kilowatts KW is equal to the apparent power S in kilovolt-amps KVA x the power factor PF.

Don't forget that the relationship between rated kW and kVA for a generator is not necessarily the same as with a load such as a motor. The load defines the pf, so it is necessary to check that neither the maximum generator real power rating in kW nor the rated kVA are exceeded by whatever load is connected. Small generators are often rated for a nominal 0.8pf load and would be overloaded by a unity pf load equal to rated kVA.

If you want a more specific answer you'll have to ask a more specific question!

To add to what Lucien has posted......
Generators are, in my experience, usually rated at 0.8pf.
The ratio of kW/kVA.
The kVA will give you that current rating.
The prime mover, the engine, is often rated for the power, the kW rating.
That, in turn, limits the kW you can draw from the set.
So you can't get rated kVA at better than 0.8pf.
A 100kVA genny can't deliver more than 80kW.

Books on that I don't have. Sorry.
Fowlers Electrical Engineer's Pocket Book was quite handy, I have a copy of the 68th edition, but I think it has been out of print for at least fifty years............

Re. power factor generally: any AC theory textbook. For generators specifically, application manuals and design guides from manufacturers might be helpful.
