The knipex are great, the slip-joint type, such as the Rothenberger, can be spragged if used two handed and are possessed of awesome wasts.

There are also differences in use, between smooth and serrated jaws.

lol, still not bad kit imo. Just brought a rothenberger blow lamp for £60

Over the years I've had two Rothenbergers costing £60+ each.

The last time I needed a new one I bought this:

It's branded "Monument" & cost me approx. £35 from Toolstation ( I think )

I's well made & does exactly the same job as the double the price Rothenberger.

Now just to get the thread back on track, "Water Pump Pliers" belong to the "Slip Joint Plier" family and can also be called by that name.

How many years are you going back? I've never found Bahco to be good, other than their adjustable spanner which is great (now I've only tried grips, side cutters, screwdrivers, files - all of which I found garbage)

Bahco took over Irazola(I think). Since then I know the screwdrivers are definitely not as good a quality.

Bahco make very good nail pullers for removing nails from packing cases.
and pulling teeth from geordie big gobs..sorry geordie.i forgot yours lived in a glass on the bedside table. :toilet:

I've a large set of Klein, had them about 17 years now. Just plain bright yellow handles but not vde. I got a good deal as they'd sat for a long time, but still expensive, probably why I've managed to not lose it yet lol (touches wood)

And with a duff one, it just sits there, not knowing which way to turn, but drawing considerably more than its normal run current.
