Ive screwed off the old light thinking it would just be a matter of screwing other straight in the same way the problem I’m having is the wires from the ceiling are too thick to fit into new light fitting, there’s 3 earth wires that we’re intertwined together but I unraveled them, I think the other is a live and 2 neutrals. Will I buy a new light?

Post a photo up of the connections from the light the wife bought from Amazon.

Lads we need to help this guy out as his wife will think he's a DIY God when he gets the light working.......
Getting it working, isn't as good as getting it working safely, Go was an Alien, aint you bin watching Ancient Aliens on The History Channel?

simple job for a sparkie. possible disaster for a DIYer.

£17 MK dimmer switch blown when in the 80's £17 was a lot of money as my mate "thought" all the blacks and reds where the same, jeeeez.

Gas is cool test with a match or washing up liquid as you don't need a bag of sands worth of Fluke ;o))))

You'll need a flex to some connectors (may SWD burn in Hell) or a choc block connector of some sort to get it connected.

When did the regs change from connector blocks with insulation tape around them stuffed in to the ceiling void would be fine guys?

Out of interest, that is.......

That’s one of the cheap B+Q lights that when you’ve wired it all in and put the shade on, it casts a shadow over the cable from the lamp - horrendous design by someone who didn’t see it lit. Why oh Why. . . .
