Ive screwed off the old light thinking it would just be a matter of screwing other straight in the same way the problem I’m having is the wires from the ceiling are too thick to fit into new light fitting, there’s 3 earth wires that we’re intertwined together but I unraveled them, I think the other is a live and 2 neutrals. Will I buy a new light?
 
Don't forget to fit a smoke alarm next to it.......and have 999 on speed dial!

Seriously though, get a spark in, probably cost around £40 depending on area... It is a simple job if you know what you are doing...

Have you tried tapping the fitting with a glass hammer. I have found these fittings suspended on skyhooks before now and they just dont hang right...

It would normally be the outer terminals where the flex of the pendant drop connect.
