Hi, hoping I am posting to the right place.

We are looking at doing up our new house with some serious renovations to our kitchen. When we looked at the consumer unit, it was pretty clear that it was both ancient and had been added to/extended many times. We are pretty sure that if we are going to get a new kitchen with new appliances that we will need to replace it and maybe (a friend mentioned this) getting the kitchen main ringed off.

Would anyone be able to give me a rough idea how much this might cost. I have attached an image to give you an idea of the current situation. Any advice gratefully received.

What is your location? This will affect the price. As you say the house is new to you, did you get given an Electrical instalation condition report (EICR) with the sale? If not, it would be advisable to have one done as a first step, as any faults found here will have to be repaired and made safe before a new CU can be safely installed and signed off, and will obviously affect the total price of the job.

That’s the problem with doing away with cheap plastic carrier bags. Where do you store the reusable ones? I can never remember to put them back in the car :D

Now considering their are three boards and i said 1,000 pound approx .if you say 600.00 pounds plus vat just to change a consumer units only .with out a eicr and any extra work carried out .is the disagree on tidying up or the price and the dumb i wonder .

I opened up the CU again and the round junction box above and what I found was the blue and brown wires coming in from the wall just above the 15a...
