Just been watching a jointing video, (yes I know how sad) the Jointer (a Russian) was building up a lead solder finish to the Joint, can't recall what the correct term is for this sort of skill, can anyone put me out of my misery?

A gun!
that'll pu you out of your misery...
works every time!
Swaging
or swageing
not swinging though...that's quite a different thing
It's a bit like dodging vs dogging...
One is nipping round a bit smartish, like....and the other is...oh, see what I did there?

PM admin or even Dan and ask them to look at the logs.
they here. easy for him to look at.

I think you're thinking of wiping a joint, where solder is applied to the work, built up to a thick layer that is then shaped while it is semi-fluid. E.g. you wipe a joint between the sheath of PILC and a brass jointing cone. A.k.a plumbing the joint.

Swaging is a cold process of hammering / forging / pressing a part using a die / swage / mandrel to change its shape.

Yes of right course, I was mixing copper pipe jointing, not cable jointing, should have realised my error.
