Just been watching a jointing video, (yes I know how sad) the Jointer (a Russian) was building up a lead solder finish to the Joint, can't recall what the correct term is for this sort of skill, can anyone put me out of my misery?

Yes of right course, I was mixing copper pipe jointing, not cable jointing, should have realised my error.I think you're thinking of wiping a joint, where solder is applied to the work, built up to a thick layer that is then shaped while it is semi-fluid. E.g. you wipe a joint between the sheath of PILC and a brass jointing cone. A.k.a plumbing the joint.
