Is this the purrrfect chase?

little info. socket on right was an existing single, mounted on a 16mm box!.left socket is new. ideally I'd have raised the existing socket to the same height, but cable is in steel conduit. didn't fancy cutting that with a cable inside. trainees note that the change of height was done in the corner safe zone.

chase was cut using a multitool to save dust. got through 2 saxton blades though. note that I cleaned up after me, unlike some sparks I know.

Just out of interest Tel "Why or what necessitated the need to raise the new socket to a different height? after all it's not a new build? Customer's reques?

if you'd seen me lying down to enlarge the hole at that low level and heard the swearing.......... also, we both getting on. bending down there is no joke with a bad back. forgot to mention. this job is at home. IP socket going outside back to back with the left socket.

Get the picture Tel, sympathpize, time to admit defeat and give up?????? think I know the answer but had to ask, to satisfy my enquiring mind. or being a nosey git, whatever.

pete. i'll never admit defeat, but have to admit, i'm getting slower. bearing in mind the chase was tedious with a multitool, but the whole lot so far inc. plastering , took me 4 hours with only 4 smoke breaks.

A neat job Tel without doubt, so is that an hours work, smoke break a normal thing? how many smokes is a break 2? 3?

Do we have to do the plastering work as sparks or do we do it out of courtesy ?

When someone asks to raise a socket do you add extra for plastering or do you just do it as part of the job ?

I only use really knacked multitool blades for chopping out these days. Find they cut pretty much just as well, and gives the blades a second purpose in life ! As you say though reduces dust a bit and is less barbaric than a SDS.

I keep all the old used blades for my multitool and use a grinder with a 1mm disk on to put some teeth back on them. Amazing how many times you can do it and it makes a huge difference in the time spent cutting with dull blades
