Hi guys
New to this forum and thought I’d ask the powers to be on here for some advice.
Basically I’m on a job installing some electrical instruments. The instruments are quite small and have come with the gland body , lock nut and ip washer on the outside . The reason for this is to reduce the entry thread for obstructing the terminations inside the device as it is very small. My question is, does this effect the Ip rating having the lock nut hard up against the main gland body on the outside ?

Thanks folks [ElectriciansForums.net] IP rating of Nylon cable gland

If you are trying for IP 67 or 68 then it’s unlikley to seal well enough because water can creep down the thread.

You would be better to cut the thread length down on the fitting and use a flat sealing washer.

maybe a smear of clear silicon on the gland threads before threading into the body ? not the best but might work

Hi Guys .
Thanks all for your reply’s . Decided to remove the lock nut.A few reworks required on a couple that’s been terminated already but the best solution going forward.
Thanks again
