It can depend where the cables enter the back of the striplights. Dead centre or more to one end or the other.

I can just about change a light bulb ?..... could this be a DIY job with careful instruction, or will I need a qualified electrician and roughly how much would this cost? Hope that all makes sense. I think that if it is an MF ceiling with a void above it should be very easy to do what you say regarding moving that pendant you might want to consider installing downlights in replacement of those fluorescent fittings.
