Discuss Need help with wiring a celing fan in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net
That block is just temporary. In the room there is a light switch with 3 switches. 1 for the conservatory 1 for the room and the other i cant remember... maybe outside. Its a new home. Also there is a smoke alarm im sure its that big grey cable connecting to it.Well that is confusing. There are 2 switchwires in the fitting... one for fan, one for light... but they only give one L terminal.
Suggesting you put both into L....
or you could have light through the switch and fan on perm live... controlled via the fittings pull switch.
Also make sure you have a good fixing into a wood joist. Those things are heavy.... plasterboard fixings won’t hold it for long.
Re your last photo.
No.... replace the bare connector from the ceiling rose with an insulated block terminal or a WAGO. That will go live, touch the metal fan base and trip a breaker, or worse!
Please ask an electrician now
hope your electrical skills are better than your photographic ones. that pic looks like it's taken in a darkened room with chip fat on the lens.. . but does it work?
Surely there's a direction selector switch then? Not sure why though. The lights are off and my phones dying so no flash lol. It works but i have a new problem. Its in reverse so the ceiling is getting air....
