Hi everyone..Help needed finding some low voltage led lamps that will run off of a 12 volt transformer not a driver,as the previous so called sparky has made all the transformers impossible to get at without tearing the ceiling apart. Any recommendations will be appreciated,

Yes...... can you recommend any lamps or not.....you know exactly what I'm on about.....it's bell ends like you that make this forum great
Why cheers for that, if you mentioned that you needed ELV lamps in the first place all this unpleasantness could have been avoided, or maybe not, and no I can't recommend any lamps. Hope you have learnt the difference between LV and ELV might stand you in good stead when you search for LV lamps tp fit into an ELV fitting.

Shame I couldn't use the correct terminology in my previous post........

these may do. MR16 LED. work OK off the old trannys.

and please do not fire abuse at respected member. that'a's a sure fire way of not getting help.

and @pete. DIYers don't know the correcet terminologey. so you need to give them a bit of latitude. in laymans terms there is mains voltage and ( what we know as ELV) is just low voltage to them. no offence, mate. :p

None taken Tel, but by posting the differences I thought that was what I was doing, seems I was wrong

Or know the difference? between LV and ELV. After all there really is no need for personal abuse is there?
Ok gonna apologise to Pete 999..had a bad day dealing with lovely clients who wanted their halogen downlights changed to led, but because the builder decided to run the cables through the centre of the ceiling and fixed the EXTRA LOW VOLTAGE transformers to the joist so that there is no way of changing the lights to LOW VOLTAGE downlights because i cant get at the LOW VOLTAGE cables my only option is to try and find some EXTRA LOW VOLTAGE lamps that will work off of a EXTRA LOW VOLTAGE transformer and not a EXTRA LOW VOLTAGE LED DRIVER......also in 16 years of going to the wholesalers I have never heard a Sparky ask for an EXTRA LOW VOLTAGE ANYTHING

In my experience they will flicker and/or have shortened lifespans if they are fed from transformers/an AC supply.

They normally need a DC supply to work correctly.

Thanks for reply I know there could be a problem that's why I came here to see if anyone had a secret lamp that I could use.....looks like the ceiling is going to take a battering

even wholesaleras mis represent items. terminologgy advances with time. we don't have fuse boards any more. ring main is now a ring final. hard enought for us to keep up, let alone laymen and some sparks what have been out of the game for a while.
