Hello,

Asking for Friend....

At a two bed house an EICR was carried out and was failed due to no RCD Protection and the buzz bar being exposed.

Another Company has since attended and passed EICR without doing the recommendations.

Where do they go from here. Take the pass or fail.
Obviously safety is priority so why would it have been passed??

Before answering. Really shouldn’t have that cover off if still turned on.

difficult to answer without seeing the original test certs.
but, just because the installation has no RCD protection does not mean it’s a fail. Saying that your board does have partial RCD protection.

no buz bar cover Not a fail if it has a good lid over consumer unit. Improvement r3comended only, but there may be more to it than that.

second sparky may be right, but/impossible to comment yet.

post cert on here with details redacted and we will give a better answer.

I suspect they turned off the RCD and did not realise the right hand bus-bar would still be live with the main switch on!

To the OP be very careful and switch off before you try to manipulate the cover back in place!

I passed a Classic Wylex filled with 3036's and no RCD last week. My main objective is to make sure the installation is safe......It was safe.
No cover on busbar is okay so long as you have a consumer unit cover.
The only issue I had was when I forgot I was wearing my weekend outfit with dangly metal earrings and a blue beard.........fortunately, for my safety, the customer would not let me in their house.
