Hi all,

I was hoping to get advice on how to blank off this light switch.

There are 2 light switches in the room which control the same light. I want to blank off 1 which is above my child's cot and she turns on during the night. I want the other switch to continue to operate the light as normal.

I have a single blank plate to install but I want to understand what I should do with these wires shown in the image below. I had just taped them off but now the other light will not work, I have a connector block to use but want to make sure I do it correctly this time around.

Thank you very much in advance.

it's a 2 way switch so youneed to connect 2 wires together to keep it in the one state. join the common wire into either L1 or L2 wire and block off the remaining wire . use wagos or a couple of choc blocks. can't see if there an earth wire to the back box but there should be. when re-energised you may fing the other switch works upside down. if this is a problem just turn it round without touching the connections.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.

Is there any particular way I should connect the 1 live wire and the common wire?

For blocking off the remaining live wire, would putting it into a connector block be ok and tape it off?

snip off the double overs and fit both into a 5Aconnector block so they make good contact with each other and no exposed copper outside the terminal.

just put on it's own in a 5A connector block. tape is optional as the blocks are themselves insulated.
